It was in June 2007 when the Iloilo International Airport in Cabatuan, Iloilo opened its gates, leaving the site of the old airport open to new possibilities. Since then, the country’s leading property developer, Megaworld, took over what was left of the original airport, and things have never been the same for Iloilo. Now known as Iloilo Business Park, the place continues to soar to greater heights in more ways than one.
With almost a decade since Megaworld started transforming the old Iloilo Airport into the township that it is today, IBP now boasts of housing world-class brands, such as the Courtyard by Marriott Hotel and Richmonde Hotel, iconic structures, such as the Iloilo Convention Center and Casa de Emperador, a lifestyle mall, state-of-the-art BPO buildings, and posh residential condominium towers. However, this 72-hectare development is far from completion despite the undeniable and impressive changes it has made to the Iloilo landscape.
One of the most anticipated developments in this township is its Boutique Hotels and Commercial District. This segment is envisioned to be the next Central Business District (CBD) in the Visayas. Because the country’s biggest commercial companies and financial institutions are expected to put up their own showrooms, regional headquarters, and/or offices here, it goes without saying that this part of the township will be one of the (if not the) busiest part of Iloilo once completed. Additionally, Iloilo Business Park’s first ever condominium office tower, International Corporate Plaza, will rise here, just beside the sixth residential condominium tower that was recently launched, The Pinnacle. With all these upcoming developments, it is not really surprising why this part of Iloilo Business Park is dubbed as the next “Central Business District of Iloilo”.
As Megaworld continues to grow, with many developments now well underway, the only direction for Iloilo Business Park is expansion, development, and improvement. Amidst these trying times, there is no denying that this township continues to soar to greater heights, providing Ilonggos better lifestyle choices and employment opportunities.
